All About My Pandas
Meet My Pandas
The Panda Who Started It All The panda who started it all is the panda in the far right. His name is PANDA. When I was in kindergarten, I read this book called "Panda Kindergarten." I checked it out from my school. We were doing reports in class about different animals, and I chose pandas. It was visitor day when we did our reports; we did it with our reading buddies. Soon after that, we got PANDA from the Niabi Zoo, which is in Coal Valley, Illinois. A few years after that, we went to the Putnam Museum in Davenport, Iowa, and we saw a movie about pandas and their babies. When I was reading the book "Panda Kindergarten" for my research, I read and there was a picture by it talking about baby pandas born in Wolong, China. In the movie at the Putnam, I saw what newborn baby panda looks like. It does not look like it's black and white mother yet; it's pink and fuzzy and very, very small. Giant panda mothers normally have twins. At Wolong Nature Reserve, the panda mother can only take care of one baby at a time. Another kind person takes care of the other baby until the mother and the person are ready to swap pandas. When we got PANDA, I was very excited. Because I'd done research and knew so much about pandas, I was very excited to see one in a way. Not a real one but close. PANDA started my interest in pandas. It encouraged my research. PANDA is special to me because he was originally my mother's ... then I kind of took him from her! He means a lot to me because he means a lot to my mother. PANDA
